Crus breve

Description

This short, stalk-like process is thicker than the long crus. It projects posteriorly from the body in the horizontal plane. The posterior ligament of the incus attaches this process to the fossa incudis of the epitympanic recess.

Etymology

Crus is a Latin word that means leg, stem, or stalk. Brevis is the Latin term meaning short.
