Description
The external acoustic meatus is the passageway of the external ear that carries sound waves through the cartilage and temporal bone to the tympanic membrane (eardrum), or membranous lateral window of the tympanic cavity. Lining the meatus is a glandular integument. The glands are modified sebaceous glands, called ceruminous glands, which produce the wax of the ear canal.
