Nasal incisure

This is the notched anterior border of the bone that provides attachment to the alar nasal cartilage. It sits above the incisor teeth and runs upward to the base of the frontal process.

The term nasal comes from the Latin nasus arising from the Sanskrit term nasa, both meaning nose. Incisure is a Latin term that means a notch. It comes from the Latin prefix in and the verb caedere meaning to cut, therefore meaning to cut into or notch.
