Description

The brain is the intracranial mass of nervous matter. It contains about ninety five percent of the neural tissue in the body. It is located within the cranium. The average weight of an adult male brain is 49.5 ounces and of a female is 44 ounces. The brain is composed of six regions: the cerebrum, the diencephalon, the cerebellum, the mesencephalon, the pons, and the medulla oblongata.
