Etymology
The English name for this muscle is the slender muscle. The Latin term gracilis means “slender, or thin.”
Origin
Lower half of the body of the pubis; inferior ramus of the pubis and a small adjacent portion of the ischial ramus
Insertion
Anteromedial surface of the proximal tibia just below the medial condyle; fascia of the leg; attaches slightly proximal to the semitendinosus and just behind the sartorius
Action
Flexion of the knee and rotates the knee medially; assists with adduction of the hip.

Obturator nerve (L2 and L3)
Blood supply
From proximal to distal, the muscle is supplied by the obturator artery, the medial circumflex femoral branch of the femoral artery, direct muscular branches of the femoral artery, the descending genicular branch of the femoral artery, and the superior and inferior medial genicular branches of the popliteal artery.
