Etymology
In English, this muscle’s name is the muscle of the knee joint. The term articularis comes from the Latin articulare meaning “to join or connect.”The word genu is Latin from the Greek gonu from the Sanskrit janu, all having the meaning of the knee.

Distal end of anterior femoral shaft

Proximal extension of the joint capsule of the knee

Pulls the suprapatellar bursa of the knee joint capsule proximally to move it away from the patella during extension of the knee.
