Proximal hip muscles
Other Terms:
Hip muscles
Description
As at the shoulder joint, there exists a varied group of muscles surrounding the hip joint. Some of these muscles are powerful prime movers of the hip joint, while others produce much more subtle movements and function primarily as stabilizers of the joint. There are three groups of proximal hip muscles – the six deep hip rotator muscles, the two hip flexor muscles, and the four muscles of the gluteal region.
