Etymology
In English this muscle’s name is the muscle on the radial side that bends the wrist. The word flexor comes from the Latin flectere meaning “to bend.”Carpi is the genitive form of the Latin carpus meaning “wrist.”Radialis is used in reference to the muscle’s position on the radial side of the forearm. This term comes from the Latin radius meaning “a rod or spoke,” which is the shape of the bone.

Medial epicondyle of humerus via the common flexor tendon

Anterior surface of the base of 2nd metacarpal bone; small tendinous slip to the 3rd metacarpal base

Flexion of wrist; abduction (radial deviation) of wrist

Median nerve (C6 and C7)
Blood supply
From proximal to distal, the belly of the muscle receives blood supply from the ulnar collateral arteries, the anterior and posterior ulnar recurrent arteries, and small muscular branches from the ulnar artery. The long distal tendon receives blood from the superficial palmar branch of the radial artery and the palmar metacarpal and perforating branches from the deep palmar arch.
