Frontal crest

Description

This is an anterior crest of bone in the midline of the internal surface of the squamous portion. This sharp ridge of bone is a continuation of the converging edges of the sulcus for the superior sagittal sinus. The anterior part of the falx cerebri attaches to the ridge.

Etymology

Frontal comes from the Latin words frons meaning front and frontis referring to the forehead or brow. The word was used to denote anterior or a relation to the forehead or brow. The word crest, or its Latin equivalent crista means a ridge.
