Origin
Anterior surface of the maxilla and zygomatic bones just below the orbit and lateral to the infraorbital foramen
Insertion
Lateral aspect of the upper lip between the insertions of the zygomaticus minor and the levator labii superioris alaeque nasi muscles
Action
Raises and everts the upper lip and in concert with other muscles deepens the nasolabial furrow.
