At its anterior aspect is the frontal belly of the occipitofrontalis, at its posterior aspect is the occipital belly of the occipitofrontalis, and laterally it is comprised of the temporoparietalis muscle. These muscle bellies converge into the flat epicranial aponeurosis that covers the top of the cranium.
