The zygomatic arch is the bridge-like bar of bone that is comprised of the zygomatic process of the temporal bone and the zygomatic process of the zygomatic bone. It is a flattened bar of bone that provides attachment for the masseter muscle and forms the superficial boundary of the osseous tunnel for the temporalis tendon. It can be easily palpated as the horizontal ridge of bone projecting anteriorly from the tragus of the auricle.
