Description
The lumbosacral joints resemble the other intervertebral joints. There is a symphysis with and intervertebral disc between the body of the fifth lumbar vertebra and the superior surface of the sacrum. Laterally there are synovial joints between the inferior articular processes of the fifth lumbar vertebra and the sacrum. All these joints are similar in structure to their more superior counterparts.
