Foot joints and ligaments
Other Terms: Foot, Ligaments of the foot
The foot proper consists of the bones and joints distal to the ankle joint. There are numerous synovial joints with their associated ligaments in the foot. Additionally, there are some syndesmotic ligaments within the foot anatomy. The joints associated with the tarsal and metatarsal bones have differing ranges of motion, some are quite mobile and others have little mobility at all. The joints of the digits are fairly moveable.
