Description
This is a variable set of fibers from the posterior aspect of the fibrous joint capsule. Typically, it has a narrow attachment on the head of the fibula that sends anterior and posterior slips that blend with the joint capsule and attach to the lateral femoral epicondyle and the posterior tibial intercondylar area, respectively.
Function
Stabilizes the posterior aspect of the knee joint.
