Description
This is a flat, triangular ligamentous band whose pelvic attachment is via a broad base on the iliopubic eminence, superior ramus of the pubis, and the obturator crest and membrane. From here it tapers as it angles inferolaterally to attach to intertrochanteric line. As it passes the front of the hip joint, it blends with the anterior surface of the fibrous capsule and the deep surface of the iliofemoral ligament.
Function
Stabilizes the hip joint and limits extension and lateral rotation of the hip.
