Intermetacarpal joints

Description

The intermetacarpal joints occur between the bases of the second to fifth metacarpal bones where they form small plane type synovial joints with one another. They have fibrous capsules surrounded by dorsal, palmar, and interosseous ligaments. The synovial membranes of the intermetacarpal joints are continuous with the synovial membranes of the carpometacarpal joints.
