Pisiform joint
Other Terms:
Articulatio ossis pisiformis,
Articulation de l'os pisiforme
Description
The articulation of the pisiform bone is a small insignificant joint between the adjacent surfaces of the pisiform and triquetral bones, and is usually an independent articulation. Because the pisiform bone is simply the sesamoid bone of the flexor carpi ulnaris, this joint is analogous to those situated between the sesamoid bones of the great toe and the head of the first metatarsal bone.
