Description
Typically only present between the second rib and the sternum where the ligament attaches the apex of the costal cartilage to the fibrocartilage of the manubriosternal joint. This ligament separates the manubrial and sternal joint cavities for this rib.
Function
Stabilize the attachment of the ribs to the sternum and limit rib movements.
