Fimbriae

Other Terms: Fimbria of fallopian tube, Fimbria of oviduct, Uterine tube fimbria

Description

The fimbria is a fringe of tissue towards the ovary, around the wide end of the uterine tube. When ovulation is close, hormones activate the fimbriae and they become engorged with blood, and hit the ovary in a gentle, sweeping motion, sending it into the uterine tube.
