Description

This landmark at the distal end of the clavicle's inferior surface is a smooth, oval face that articulates with the acromion of the scapula.

Etymology

Facet, literally means a little face. It came into English via the French diminutive facette that came from the Latin facies or face. Anatomically, the term describes smooth, flat surfaces. Acromion is derived from the Greek akron meaning peak and omos for shoulder.
