Description

The promontory of the sacrum forms as the ventral lip of the first sacral segment projects ventrally into the pelvis forming the distinct sacrovertebral angle. This is the posterior delimiting margin of the pelvic inlet.

Promontory comes from the Latin verb prominere meaning to jut out.
