Mediastinal surface of lung
Other Terms: Medial surface of lung, Facies mediastinalis, Facies mediastinalis pulmonis
The mediastinal surface of the lungs is in contact with the mediastinal pleura. The cardiac impression is located on this surface to accommodate for the pericardium. This impression is larger on the left lung than on the right because the heart projects further into the left.
